Welcome to the
Concordia Old Collegians Cricket Club
Affiliated ATCA - A3, B3, LOC and LOE
| 2 new coaches for 2008/2009 !! | updated May 29, 2008 |
The club is absolutely delighted to announce that we have found not one but 2 coaches (Andrew Dunn & Peter Fryer) for the minimum of the next 2 seasons. The Club Executive moved quickly from Mike Watson's departure and within 3 weeks of receiving notice from Mike, we have secured 2 excellent candidates as coaches for the next 2 seasons. The Club did not advertise, as we wanted to seek out quality people for the important role. These positions were filled from people we already knew, and we can guarantee you - they are quality people and players and will be a great fit for our Club. More information on Andrew and Peter can be found in the player profiles page. | |
About the Club

The "reformed" Concordia Old Collegians Cricket Club has been playing cricket since 1998/1999 and currently has 4 teams in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association. Training is held at Concordia College every Tuesday and Thursday and matches are played on Saturday afternoons at the newly revamped College oval, Winchester St Highgate (A and B Grade) and at Victoria Park West (C Grade) and Collins Reserve (D Grade). We are currently in the process of developing a new oval for our C and D Grade teams in the south Parklands.
The club is a progressive, family friendly and welcoming club with over 45 old collegians that play in these teams, and we encourage other old collegians to join the club.
The club is appreciative of the support of major sponsors, The Earl of Leicester Hotel - Parkside, Concordia College, Whistler Wines and Metropolitan Fresh Fruiterers - Unley Shopping Centre. The Earl of Leicester provides an area for social activities for players, on Tuesday and Thursday nights after training and Saturday night after games. Concordia College provides excellent playing and training facilities. Whistler Wines are a new sponsor - and the club enjoys their fantastic wine and social functions at the Barossa, featuring the Cricket Club Jazz Band. Metropolitan Fresh Fruiterers provide the best fruit and veg in town with excellent old-fashioned service. The club also appreciates the support of the State Government through the Office for Recreation and Sport and the Active Club program. This support has allowed our club to expand and support player development.
The club has enjoed a lot of success in recent years. In the 2005/06 cricket season the A Grade won the A3 grand final defeating Hope Valley by 18 runs. Season 2006/07 has also been very successful with the club establishing a D Grade team for only the third time in the club's history. Three out of four teams made the finals, with the A Grade narrowly missing out after going up a grade to A2. In 2007/08 the B Grade side made the C1 grand final, eventiually losing to undefeated Gaza, but the B grade will be elevated to B3 in 2008/09.
The past season featured much success and various highlights on and off the field. All players certainly enjoyed individual and team success, which will hold the club in good hands for future success.
The club enjoys a social atmosphere with many special events, including the club's annual Quiz Night, end of season trip, ladies/family days, Christmas dinner and Club Presentation night held at the Leicester, golf days, beach nights and other informal activities. The club is very professional and well organised by a group of dedicated players and supporters.
We are delighted to have Andrew Dunn and Peter Fryer as club coaches for seasons 2008-2010. Both are experienced cricketers and will offer valuable coaching and support to our youthful club. We look forward to them sharing their playing and coaching experiences.
We are excited about the future and invite any potential players or sponsors to contact us.
